Song by the Young’uns about John Hill, who was killed in 1914, in the opening months of the First World War.

Written by Sean Cooney of The Young ‘Uns about the husband of his Great Grandmother Mary Jane, who she married in Sunderland in 1913. John Hill died a year later with thousands of others in the opening months of the First World War and is buried in the little French town of Bailleul.

Mary Jane eventually remarried and gave birth to another 11 children one of whom is Sean Cooney’s grandmother. Taken from The Young ‘Uns album Never Forget, which was released in 2014.
