Billy Bragg on Brexit, Trump, migration, and why we build walls

0

Speaking when performing in Chicago in 2016, soon after the Brexit referendum, Billy Bragg said to the laughter of his Ameican audience, “As a result of that vote, we in the UK have completely lost our sense of moral superiority over US politics. You may be on the brink (of a Trump presidency), we have jumped off head first.”

Comparing Trump’s plans for a wall to keep out Mexicans to the virtual wall in Calais built by the British government to keep out migrants from war and oppression, Billy sings the now classic Anais Mitchell song, Why We Build the Wall.
