In the last year of his life, Heathcote Williams wrote two books, Brexit Boris – From Mayor to Nightmare (published by Public Reading Rooms) and American Porn (published by Thin Man Press). On 15 March 2017, just days out of hospital, Heathcote, together with his longtime collaborator Alan Cox, read extracts from both books at Blackwell’s Bookshop in Oxford.
In his introduction, Heathcote explained the reasons for these two books: “I thought I’d try my hand at harpooning. Fortunately, two suitable targets surfaced: a pair of blonde beasts, bloviating blowhards, and two of the most unsuitable and unlikely candidates for public office in the United Kingdom and the United States, who through their pathological chicanery have managed to get themselves elected, to the consternation and confusion of many.”
